A SHORT HISTORY OF STONEHOUSE

NUMBER TWO - ST.NINIAN'S CHURCH

To follow up on the first part of the above I feature a photograph of what remains of the old Kirkyard which is about half a mile from the nearest point of the village. It says a lot for our ancestors that they had to walk in all types of weather to attend their Church.

Old drawing of the Churchyard and it's location overlooking the River Avon

The undernoted is about the old St. Ninians Church .

Hail! ruined remnants of a church

Old silent belfry grey

With scars of age; the tooth of time

Has gnawed all else away.

Thy voice speaks to the thoughtful mind;

This ancient house of prayer

Revives anew those hallowed scenes

Of beauty, rich and rare.
