A SHORT HISTORY OF STONEHOUSE

NUMBER TWELVE - NOW

There is not much more I can tell you about the history of Stonehouse, the photographs below show panoramic views of two areas of the village in 2000.

Stonehouse 1. Looking south with the new Stonehouse Primary School (in the centre of the photograph) built on the site of old Townhead Street School.

Stonehouse 2. Looking east towards the Motorway, the church in the centre is Paterson United Free Church in Lawrie Street. Over on the left you will see the remains of the railway viaduct which bridged the Avon Valley, it was the longest viaduct in Scotland.

Regards Tom "TAMAUR".
